Milking

machine

There is up to 20

medical chemicals in a glass of milk

Herded, filled into ranks, disinfected, attached, milked, detached and disinfected.

It takes around 5 minutes to milk 22 litres from an average cow, with this process happening every day.

Dedicated milk tankers collect the milk and transports it from the farm daily, where the milk is being chilled to 4°C in the milking parlour as soon as possible.

The parlour has become as close to a factory production line as possible, when dealing with live animals in confined spaces. Larger farms have fully automated systems that operate around the clock, without any human input.
