cutlery rolling
The stainless steel making process is initially very wasteful, if the raw materials are made completely from newly mined materials then as much as 4.2 tons of C02 per ton of stainless steel is produced. However if raw materials are new and recycled then only 2 tons of CO2 is produced per ton of stainless steel is produced. This only reduces the wastage in part as after the furnace process 50% of the melted material produced is scrapped. Cutlery stainless steel contains 18% chromium, 1.2% Nickel and 80.8% Steel. What is left of this mixture is rolled into sheets, polished and sent to various factories.
