produce the worlds dairy

The dairy cow used to be an icon of the old Irish farm. However now the animal is viewed as a production machine with a limited lifespan.

As factory production lines have improved efficiency, pressure has been put on the farm/cow to keep up with the increasing pace. In doing this cows have been medically enhanced with hormones and sedatives to increase milk production and flow speed. Effects have been documented with cows becoming lame and infertile after only 3-4 years.

After the dairy cow’s reduced life is over, it is transported over long distances to an abattoir, which is able to handle the “byproduct” of a milk producing machine.

A dairy cows lifespan = 3 years
