Bulb development is the first key stage for the tulip growth process. Initially all bulbs are grown outside where they grow in the natural process for the tulip. However at the topping stage machinery cuts the blossoms to force the bulb to multiply. This increases bulb stock by 500% to be used in the glasshouse process the following year.
